Initiative for the development of the Saint-Marc Commune, Haiti

Founded in September 2002 by a Belgian woman, Claire Sartiaux, and two Haitians, Marc-Rhéal Cadet and Harold Errié, natives of Saint-Marc, the CIDeCS is a Haitian association of citizens of all backgrounds, who are voluntarily committed to the cultural, social and economic development of the Saint-Marc Commune, while rejecting any action or stand of a political or religious nature.
The CIDeCS is an association based on altruistic principles and consequently refuses all advertising and media exploitation of its actions for any commercial advantage and any political consideration or involvement.
The CIDeCS develops its projects with the communities concerned. Its initiatives are all based on prior in-the-field observation and they are only launched when they respond to the keenest community expectations.
CIDeCS is a Haitian association whose guiding objective is to tackle the challenges posed by Haiti and Haitian society, and to put forward study and action initiatives sustained by partnership, in order to highlight and solve the main problems that must be resolved if its people are to live in dignity.
The non-profit association CIDeCS HAÏTI-BELGIQUE asbl was set up in Belgium to support the CIDeCS community development projects in HAÏTI, in fields that include, among others, energy, water, local economy, education, training in development issues, health and the environment.
With these goals in mind, CIDeCS HAÏTI-BELGIQUE asbl launches such initiatives as:
•    awareness campaigns,
•    fund-raising drives,
•    contacts with donors,
•    partnerships with various institutions, organisations and people to establish a network of the skills required.
